After the impressive debut album released in January 2016 by AMS Records, a quick return return by The Winstons – Enrico Gabrielli / Roberto Dell’Era / Lino Gitto (Calibro 35, Mariposa, Afterhours, Side B) – was expected… but not on such a short notice! The trio’s critics and audience response has been unexpected indeed, and generally extremely positive: seems like the band’s mix of Canterbury (Soft Machine in the first place) and psychedelic sounds (The Doors and The Beatles among all) contained in The Winstons’ self-titled debut record was actually very special and original.

Recorded live on January 22nd at Angelo Mai, “Live in Rome” intensifies the strong impact of “The Winstons” by adding an energetic ‘live’ dimension, and adds to the studio album tracklist, here proposed in full, the two unreleased jams “Zip to Zap Riot Trip” and “Oku No Dajes”.

The group’s many years of experience on stage, all over Italy and abroad, emerge here with a surprising ease, the same proven in handling the ‘progressive matter’ far better than many other older artists. If you have already witnessed The Winstons in concert, “Live in Rome” will give you the chance to relive those precious moments; if you haven’t, here’s the perfect way to realize what to expect!

Dopo il fulminante disco d’esordio pubblicato nel gennaio 2016 da AMS Records, ci si attendeva un ritorno dei The Winstons sulle scene in tempi brevi… ma non così brevi! Il riscontro di critica e pubblico per questo terzetto è stato infatti inaspettato e, in generale, estremamente positivo: a quanto pare, il mix di sonorità canterburiane (Soft Machine in primis) e psichedeliche (The Doors e The Beatles su tutti) contenuto nell’omonimo debutto dei Winstons è risultato essere davvero particolare e originale.

Registrato dal vivo il 22 gennaio presso l’Angelo Mai, “Live in Rome” intensifica il forte impatto di “The Winstons” grazie all’aggiunta di un’energica dimensione ‘dal vivo’, e aggiunge alla scaletta dell’album in studio, qui riproposto interamente, le due jam inedite “Zip to Zap Riot Trip” e “Oku No Dajes”.

Anni di esperienza sui palchi italiani e non del trio Gabrielli / Dell’Era / Gitto (Calibro 35, Mariposa, Afterhours, Lato B) affiorano qui con una sorprendente naturalezza, la stessa dimostrata nel maneggiare la ‘materia progressiva’ ben più di molti altri navigati artisti.
